How Can I Be Successful

Can I Be Successful?

Everyone is successful. You are Successful, it is just a matter of how you see and understand it.

Let us first understand the meaning of the word ” successful “. Successful is defined as having attained wealth, higher position, honors, respect and the likes. Someone who is successful achieves a high position in what they do or able to acquire wealth and accomplish goals they set.

With that in mind, we can say being successful goes beyond, wealth accumulation, it is a state of self-contentment where one is able to overcome an objective presented for him or her at a particular point in time. So can I be successful? In fact, you being here reading this post makes you successful, since you are accomplishing the objective of you wanting an answer to that question.

SMALL BEGINNINGS

Alright so completing a task is successful, but what are the tasks I need to complete to be Successful? We go through Small Beginningsseveral tasks from when our day begins, to the end of the day. Although we do not consider those tasks as objectives because we are conditioned to do so.

Things like waking up on time so you can catch that bus or train to work and not be late are some of them.

Since we are conditioned with the mindset of knowing we will either lose our job or be written up in the process of being late, therefore getting there on time is not successful to us but a conditional objective.

Going to bed early in order to get enough sleep, getting food to satisfy our hunger, filling up the gas in the car, taking a shower and so on are all successful tasks when they are carried out.

Doing these things with a different mindset of making it a habit, and not because of you being conditioned, becomes a part of you. Set up little tasks for you to do on a daily basis and grow into them as a habit.

These tasks can be anything from, being positive all day, to doing a little extra in all you do. Good success habits in the smallest tasks when carried out prepare you towards bigger tasks.

Get in the habit of tasking yourself little by little, you may not see the benefits in doing so yet, but in the long run, they will pay off greatly. Every little bit counts.  Just like the saying goes ” Little drops of water, make a Mighty Ocean” Start small and grow in them”.

HAVING A PLAN & PLAN B

Mohammed Ali once said; Every man has a plan until they get punched in the face. We all need a plan. My Plan is to bring you informative posts like these every now and then. Plans can be about anything. Plans to travel to go see the World Cup in Russia or the next plans to travel around the world for adventure and even plans to have lunch with an old friend.

Most of the time we have plans about what we do not want to do, but we have no idea on what we want to do. For example, you are in a fast car that can take you anywhere. You know all the places you don’t want to be like you don’t wanna drive to Alaska, Texas, California and so on but you also don’t know where you want to drive to. Because you can go anywhere or do anything, we find it hard in deciding what exactly we want to do, in other sense where exactly we want to drive to.

Which Destination?

In the same way, when asked what you don’t want to do or get out of life, we often list a whole lot of things we do not want to do. But when asked the same question and this time rather, what we actually want to get, we start to scratch our brains and even pull out our hair. We are so informed about all the bad things we do not want to do, but we fumble on what we want to do and how to do it.

Find some time, sit down and clear your mind of all the negative thoughts and plans you wouldn’t want to do, and focus your energy on the positive aspect of some of the things you can do. Everyone has a passion and that passion is what we succeed in when we pay attention to it. I have the passion for motivating and encouraging people, it makes me feel great whenever I reach out to someone. Find your passion and focus on one thing at a time.

You have probably heard of the saying, ” Shoot for the stars”. Shooting for the stars can seem like an over-ambitious or exaggerated goal. Hypothetically speaking, if we shoot for the stars we are more than like to burn out. So to that, I say, shoot for the stars, but aim for the moon as a Plan B. So when you miss the stars, you will land on the moon.

Set higher goals or plans for yourself, it is achievable with little efforts day by day and always have a backup plan, so when you hit an obstacle, you revert to the backup plan in order to stand your ground and then aim for the higher goal again. You are more than capable of doing it if John Doe was able to do it, so can you!

BE INFORMED

Now that you have a plan and ready to execute. Next thing is getting informed about how to carry it out. Sometimes we tend to seek this information from family members and friends. While it is a great way to ask these people, you should also be very careful in doing so. I don’t mean that in a bad way.

A relative will base on their good instinct of protecting you from failure and in doing so may not provide you with the right information.

All because they don’t want to tell you something that will end up not working for you, and you in turn blaming them when things don’t go the way you want.

Same thing with a friend. The guilt of them knowing that they misled you when you do not succeed will probably lead to the end of that friendship. And since it is your passion, they probably have no idea what information you need and cannot be of much help.

Also, if you want a great advice from someone about anything, you do not necessarily have to ask the person who failed in doing similar to what you did. You may say, but it is good to learn from their mistakes, yes, whilst it is, do not make your decision on their failure in the sense that what failed for them, could work for you.

When it comes to getting the right information, you always want to ask someone who has been through it all. From failing multiple times and succeeding at the end. These are the people who will have all the info you need. They failed so many times but learned from them and through that, they were able to succeed.

In addition to that, nowadays, everything you can possibly think of is on the “Internet”. The fact that you are here reading this proves that you can find any info you need. Find some time and research what you need. YouTube videos, Google searches, and WIKIs are at the tip of your hands with a broad knowledge of anything you need. If you are able to search for how to make a gourmet dish and found it, you are more than likely to search Do It Yourself (DIY) videos.

You can also join forums that talk about your specific interest. Reddit is one such community where you can find a forum about anything. Invest your time in going to the library as well, and join programs of interest to build a community network that you can source ideas from.

Remember, there is a vast range of information out there, know where to look the ones that best suit your needs and delight yourself.

PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE

Patience. A VirtueClimbing up the ladder of success is not a straight shot unless you were born with a silver spoon. There are slippery slopes and obstacles to overcome. Failure is sure to set in as well.

Failing at something does not mean it is the end of it. If all the great inventors and successful people out there called it quits when they failed, we would not be here in this state and this post will not even exist.

When Thomas Edison failed about Ten Thousand times while inventing the light bulb, He said: I don’t fail, I just found Ten Thousand ways that it would not work. As a matter of fact, any successful person out there has probably failed more than 2 or 3 times.

When we fail, not only do we come close to giving up, but we are actually a few steps away from succeeding. Failure is good because it eliminates ways that do not work. So we should not give up and lose hope but rather mark that failure and learn from it to plan our next move.

Agreed, it is frustrating, but that is because we are probably worn out for that moment. So next time you fail, stop and take a break, gather yourself and research the failure so you are armed to beat it next time you try.

Have patience and do not rush it or take shortcuts. Something may work really quick for a different person, but it is not guaranteed that you will get the same results when you do it too. We are all in a different race or fight of our own and therefore strategies to overcoming these hurdles leading to failure will be very different. After all, you and I and are not cut out the same.

RINSE & REPEAT

At this point, you should have an idea of how to go about the question “Can I Be Successful?”. Everything we do in this life has steps. Either you climb up or down or slip down. Anywhere you land, that you should not be the end, start over again in the same thing or a different one.

Being successful does not have an end like your favorite Television Show, or Novella leaving you with a cliffhanger. Rather it something that must be done over and over again. Like starting small, you keep tasking yourself with different things little by little and before you realize, you are the master of all arts.

Why stop at Three (3)?, there is Four and 5 and you can go on as long you still have breath in your lungs. Do it as many as you can and have a successful atmosphere around.

If Apple and Samsung had stopped at their first phones, do you think we would have all these electronic gadgets and accessories? There is now an iPhone X and Galaxy S10. That you should tell you can succeed as many times as you choose.

The more you do it, the better you get at doing it.

Conclusion

Success Awaits You.

We all have the potential in succeeding at anything we choose to do. The problem we have is that we feed our mind with the negative mentality of failure which makes us scared to even try. Avoid news or information that feeds your negative mind.

The more you feed that negative mentality, the stronger it gets and overpowers the positive. This leads to self-doubt, low self-esteem, inferiority complex and the likes. Feed your positive mind more and have a brighter attitude towards life.

You are successful!

Once again thank you so much for your time in reading this post. I hope you got what you needed if not all at least some of it. I would love to hear what you have to say about this. Since we are all learning, now that you know what I have to say, please feel free to leave a comment.

Yes, it’s good to remember the small things that we’re successful in.

Going to bed early enough to get a good sleep is challenging enough when there are so many distractions and things we would like to do. Also, I’ve noticed that if I’m on the computer I don’t seem to get tired was sleeping so I stay up longer than if I’m reading in the evening.

It is good to be reminded that we need to set up little tasks for ourselves to do on a daily basis and then grow them into a habit.

I like your section on patience. I read recently that patience is its own reward and that struck me as an incredibly profound statement which I will hold on to.

    Thanks for this post.

Thank you Julia, I’m glad that you like this and find it helpful. We often look at the big picture forgetting that, it is the smaller ones that make the big picture noticeable. Being successful should really be a habit so we get used to it and not beat ourselves up.

The distractions and things we go through can be overwhelming when it comes to getting enough rest. Reward yourself with that good sleep at the end of the day, you’ve earned it. I’m glad you found an alternative to help you sleep well :). And yes, patience really is a Virtue.

Thank you so much and I wish you success in all you do.

I want to thank you for writing this post and for reminding us that success is actually all around us and that we should define what successful means for us as individuals rather than what society calls successful. What would be the best way to discover our own passions and levels of success?

Discovering your passion should not be a difficult task. We all have something we enjoy doing. It could be anything, singing, dancing, running, cooking, swimming, motivating others, consulting for others, drawing, fishing. You see, we have fallen to the idea that Passion is something huge, but it really is not. It is anything you enjoy doing that brings peace and joy to your heart.

Anything you you find yourself doing even when you feel down, because it brings you joy is more than likely your passion. Parenting biologically or not can be passion, hence why we have all these caring home for orphans.

What do you enjoy doing most?
