MEN’S HEALTH & WELLNESS

Men’s Health Wellness, a phrase that seems to be on the tongue of the current generation of men. This is a wide scope of discussion that tends to be an interesting conversion between groups of men, either at work, home, bar, field or any gathering. You will find men talking about “Men’s Health Wellness” or sport if not both. Men’s Health Wellness is even discussed amongst women talking about their men or that hot guy they saw by the coffee shop or the one that had a tight shirt showing his muscles.

Back in the day, Men’s Health Wellness was not heard of due to the biased pharmaceuticals pondering on the opposite health; Women’s Health. Not a minute will go by that you do not hear a commercial on the radio or TV talking about women’s health. “What about the men?” I used to whisper to myself. Or was I on the wrong channel or program or something?…

Healthy Pharma or Workout?
Health in general, from my perspective, goes beyond pharmaceuticals. You can spend a fortune in these pharmaceuticals out there for a side effect. Almost every one of them has a side effect. Be it nausea or mild headaches, dizziness and so on. There is a number of these side effects and you and I know it. Although you need to take your supplements of vitamins, do not rely on the processed and bottled pills or tablets. Try as much as possible to get some of these vitamins from the right sources or naturally. Vitamins can be found in sunlight, milk, egg, avocados, guavas, nuts, beans, spinach and so on. These are all a great source of nutrients that will not leave a dent in your finance.

Working out on the hand is not so costly and very beneficial. Standing up for 2 minutes after a long period of sitting is a workout. Reaching over the shelf is a workout even just stretching is a workout and all these have an impressive effect on the body as they relief the body from a stale position keeping blood flow. Staying active is a must. This engages the mechanism in our joints to be in constant or required movement. Just like it becomes hard for you to turn in a direction after sleeping in one position for a long period. The body cramps up and when sudden movements ate initiated after a long period of idling around. Always find it necessary to be on the move even if it is for a short period of time.

 

The Right Workout. 
Depending on your daily activities and schedule, the type of workout will vary from what someone else is doing. Running a mile day before or after work, visiting the gym late nights or mornings, playing a sport on your leisure time, riding a bike on the weekends, or playing some golf…you name it. All these are great workouts and can be incorporated into your daily routines if you have the means.

However, as little as 7-15 minutes a day can make a big difference in your routine. Wake up in the morning and before you hit the bathroom, do a combination of no-equipment exercises right at the comfort of your bedroom. A combination of push-ups, squats, jumping jacks and lunges 3 – 4 times a week or every morning will go a long way into your health and wellness.

Doing these engages your full body, muscles and increases blood flow which helps you in building a strong immune system and prevention of diseases. The side effect of doing this is leaving you looking good and refreshed and feeling great in the mornings as you stick with it.

Furthermore, you can join a community sport or a group of people in the area that engages in sporting activities, either playing basketball on the weekend, recreational soccer, football or baseball. These sports and many more provide a great exercise for the whole body as you engage movements in running, jumping, throwing, sliding and so on. As long as you stay active.


Dieting Essentials
No, I am not referring to unholy diets with weird combinations and discomfort. Dieting in a proper form or way is one that contains a balanced meal. A meal in the right proportions of essential nutrients that promote healthy growth and immunity to diseases. Research shows that we share about 60% of the same DNA as a banana. Just one banana a day can do wonders for your body, It is loaded with essential vitamins and minerals such as potassium, calcium, manganese, magnesium, iron, folate, niacin, riboflavin, and B6. These all contribute to the proper functioning of the body and keeping you healthy.

You have probably also heard “an apple a day, keeps the doctor away”. An apple contains a great source of cancer-fighting antioxidants. It is also high in fiber and helps prevent inflammation. Fruits in your diet will, in fact, do you a number of great benefits. Fruits like strawberries, grapes, almonds, kiwis, oranges, pears, watermelons, mangoes and so on. Add some of these to your diet and watch the difference you will feel.

Omega 3 fatty acids are also a very great addition. This is great for the prevention of Alzheimers, dementia, Asthma ADHD and the lowering of triglycerides. Omega 3 fatty acids can be found in roasted soybeans, walnut, chia seeds, salmon, and sardines. Cut out some red meats and add some seafood to balance the nutritional benefits from both land and sea.

Gradually stay away from the fatty and greasy foods. These foods may feel great for a short period of time but then end up causing you a long-term harm of hypertension and stroke. Sugars are the big culprit of this situation. Too much sugar in sweet foods, pastries and desserts are really harmful and large quantities. Although carbs are great, know the difference between good carbs and bad carbs

Good carbs can be found in barley, whole wheat bread, whole grains, legumes, lentils, sweet potatoes, quinoa, squash, corns, whole wheat pasta and whole wheat bread. There are so many more good carbs out there. Substitute these with the white bread, pasta, and white rice.

Exercising the habit of a proper diet with moderate workouts will go a long way in your health. Proper diet, after all, contributes greatly to your daily exercises.

 

Routine. No to routines
It is great to have an amazing routine of doing all these to lead to a healthy life. Routines are however a killer. You do the same exercises over and over again, not only does it become boring and annoying to do, it also burns you out. If your exercise targets one particular part of the body, say upper body or lower body or cardio, this kills the joy of exercising. Add a variety of workouts and mix up the foods and dieting. Target a different part of the body with each exercise you engage in.

Squats and deadlifts today, push-ups and chest press tomorrow. By doing this, the part of the body you exercised the day before, is allowed to rest and recover. Do not focus on just one part as that can also be harmful to the body. Change your routines to add more variety of workouts to allow your quick recovery after workouts and proper healing of the body.

 

Hydration.
The body is made up of 70% of water, so it shouldn’t be a rocket science that your body requires at least enough water. Water has so many benefits aside from quenching our thirst.

It is a natural remedy for headache reliefs. It prevents cramps, boosts the immune system. Water helps with flushing out toxins, promoting weight loss and increasing energy and fatigue relief. A glass early morning after waking up from bed will start the flow of energy in the body and detox all the unwanted waste by aiding you in fecal egestion.

Drink enough water as needed in your day and enjoy the benefits of this natural element.
